Let me walk you through the process of commissioning a painting.
First we arrange a consultation by phone, or organize a trip to the studio.
There are a number of different mediums you can choose from, from a classic oil painting to a fresh watercolour or soft pencil sketch.
I will talk you through the different mediums and help you with any questions you might have in picking the appropriate medium.
All paintings are created using the highest standard of materials. All my canvas comes from Milliken Brothers in Belfast and use the highest grade of Ulster Linen. All water colours and drawings are created on a high grade of paper.
As the product is bespoke the scale and size of the painting or drawing can be determined with your specification. You may want the classic head and shoulder portrait or you may wish to commission a piece with a backdrop of an interior, a landscape even a kitchen window, it’s up to you either way it will be carefully tailored to a high spec and the result will be a unique piece.
I work mainly from photos as it is usually more convenient for the client but I have been commissioned in the past to make sketches from live sittings.
Once we have established what you want, I will give you a time frame and as the portrait progresses, I will send you updates
Portraits can take up to four to six weeks for completion. On completion you will be notified for collection or for an extra fee you can have it delivered.

No, it can be achieved through a serious of photos. That may require a visit to the studio or to the home to take photos if your own are too difficult to work with. It is important to work from good resources in order to achieve a pristine result. It is also important to get to know a client so some face to face time is always good!

How long does it take for a portrait?
This depends on the complexity of the piece ,it can take a couple of months or up to six weeks.
Yes I do and mostly in plein air/from photos.
Yes! Our pets are important to us. They are members of the family and I have done a number of portraits in particular when a pet has passed away – memories are important.
I can for an extra cost but usually the client likes to choose their own frame as it may have a bearing on where the art work is to be hung. Depending on where you are based it is often easier to send artworks without the frame.
